The inspiration behind the journey
Inspired by the strength of sharing, I started 'Living with CKD... The Fight' to connect with others on a similar path. I've learned the power of opening up and hope to reach those who feel alone in their CKD journey. It's about merging independence with the understanding that support is available and that you're not alone.

Navigating dietary challenges
One of the biggest challenges in managing CKD is diet. I love dairy, cheese, and salt, but I've learned to balance these cravings with the needs of my health. Remember, you're not alone in this. Many understand the need to balance your diet and set goals for yourself to continue to move forward. As a former pescatarian who weighed 300 pounds, I can tell you it is easy to cut back on bad food.

Nutritional advice for the newly diagnosed
If you're newly diagnosed with CKD, don't go cold turkey on your favorite foods. Instead, gradually tone down the less healthy items. Explore dietary CKD sites for new recipes each week. The support of friends and family is invaluable, and I'm here for you too. Having people rooting for you helps alot!
Faith, Hope, and Family
My mom is my faith and hope. Watching her navigate the same disease, with the support of family and friends, has been challenging. She inspires me to keep trying, even when it's hard. Her strength in the face of adversity pushes me to overcome challenges. She taught me and continues to teach me when something happens, and I think about how she overcame and/or didn't show the pain, which pushes me to at least try. Blame. Overcoming. Faith
